We are looking for someone who can make a real difference to the lives of our young people. Candidates must be warm and friendly, with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for providing high quality care and support. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, well-organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience in working in this field, in either a paid or voluntary capacity, is desirable but not essential for this role, as training will be provided for the successful candidate. What is most important to us, is that you are a kind, caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with young people and assisting them with their daily living activities
Responsibilities and duties
* Encourage our young people with their problem solving and independent living skills
* To assist our young people to participate in social and recreational activities with their peers either onsite or within the wider community
* Encourage and support the development of our young people’s personal skills through hobbies and interests
* Teaching life skills such as shopping, cooking, using public transport and household budgeting
* Observe and monitor physical and emotional well-being, and promptly report any changes or concerns by the appropriate recording channels
* Being aware of and complying with policies and procedures relating to Adult safeguarding and child protection, health & safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, and staff code of conduct, and reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
* Participating in regular training sessions, courses, and other learning activities and performance development, as required
Qualifications and skills
* Good numeracy and literacy skills.
* Capacity to work constructively as part of a team
* Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
* Ability to relate and interact well with young people who have a range of communication needs
* This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
* Experience of working in a similar role is desirable but not essential.

This is a 12 month maternity cover contract initially, with the potential to become a permanent fixed term position depending on client numbers.

Monday -Friday 8.55am-3.40pm 42 weeks annually plus 2 mandatory training days.
Mandatory training days will be confirmed in advance of each holiday year.
