The EHS Team at Ware are responsible for providing the campus with a framework to effectively manage Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) risks. This incorporates a wide range of issues including: assessment of EHS risk; formulation of policies and procedures to comply with legal & company standards; setting of EHS aims and targets; performance monitoring; environmental / waste management; emergency planning; incident and accident investigation and crisis management. Job Purpose: Reporting directly to the site EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Director, the role of the Occupational Hygiene Manager is in place to drive continued improvement of chemical and physical agent exposure control by establishing / managing exposure monitoring programme. The role covers all areas of the Ware Campus, with the primary focus being production business units. Day-to-day you will manage (and execute) site exposure monitoring programmes in compliance with legal and GSK standards and expectations. You will develop, implement and improve good EHS practice to ensure GSK policies and regulatory standards are met. You will advise management of occupational hygiene and broader EHS matters and support (or initiate) improvement activities to continuously improve application of sound practice in occupational hygiene. In this capacity you will also provide training and coach staff in related EHS competencies. In delivering your role will routinely interact with Team Managers (across the site) to influence decisions in relation to occupational hygiene matters. There are no direct reports to this role, but the role holder will be expected to manage the activities of contractors / consultants within the scope of the role. We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced professionals with NEBOSH certification (either at Certificate or Diploma level) and appropriate BOHS training with either chartered membership of BOHS or working towards this certification. About You: This role would suit a self-motivated person who has strong experience of working in an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) role. You will also be resilient and calm under pressure. Strong people skills and a proven ability to influence people to achieve and drive performance are considered fundamental to the role. You will also have a strong continuous improvement mindset. Basic Qualifications: Relevant experience of working in a regulated technical industry with relevant qualifications in Scientific or Technical discipline (or strong equivalent experience). NEBOSH Certificate or similar qualification in occupational health & safety, or similar qualification in Environmental management. Relevant BOHS modules in the field of occupational hygiene Preferred Qualifications / Certifications: Operational knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes in the pharmaceutical or FMCG (or similar industry).
