Welcome to the Dudson Museum, where the captivating history of Dudson Pottery production intertwines with a fascinating industrial narrative of both local and national significance. As one of the few remaining pottery museums solely dedicated to the heritage of a single company, The Dudson Museum stands as a pinnacle of importance.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To support in organising and setting up of events at The Dudson Centre & Museum, and providing on-the-day support and delivery of allocated activities or roles.
Main Tasks:
* Assist with all elements of event planning including activity research.
* Pre-event site preparation and post-event clearing away.
* Welcoming people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to the site on event days.
* Assisting visitors to enjoy a positive and memorable experience.
* Assisting with the delivery of activities at events.
* Assisting with admission stations, crafts activities, museum visits, museum shop and café.
* Occasional cash handling tasks.
Hours:
The Dudson Museum is currently open Monday – Friday between 10am & 3pm. As we expand the number of events we deliver, some of these will also take place on evenings and weekends. The amount of time required for this role is flexible and depends on the nature of individual events.
Skills and Experience Desired:
* Good communication skills, with a welcoming and friendly attitude.
* Commitment to providing an excellent and inclusive customer service experience for all visitors.
* Ability to support people of all ages and abilities, including young children and families, and people with English as a second language.
* Team working and willingness to help others.
* Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills.
* An interest in local history, ceramics, arts and crafts, and an ability to learn about the history of Dudson Pottery and The Dudson Centre site.
* Ability to adapt and be flexible.
* Ability to work using your own initiative and to follow procedures.

Training will include:
* Induction and meeting staff and other volunteers.
* A Volunteer Handbook and a Potted History of The Dudson Museum.
* Role shadowing of other Events Facilitators, Cafe, and Centre Staff.
Ongoing training will be provided as and when necessary, including health and safety procedures and safeguarding.
Travel expenses will be paid.
If you volunteer for over four hours in one day, you will receive a lunch voucher to be redeemed within The Dudson Centre Café.
