This ‘Good’ Pupil Referral Unit, based in North Tyneside, supports young people aged 11-16 and is looking to appoint a passionate Youth Worker to work in Key Stage 3 and 4 classes on a full-time basis. The desired Youth Worker will work on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues which present challenging behaviours.
The school aims to build bridges in the relationships the students have with their mainstream school, develop the students' self-confidence and self-esteem, and bridge the gap in their education where external issues have impacted their learning.
The desired Youth Worker will have:
* Experience of working with primary or secondary school-aged children
* Experience of working with pupils with SEND and challenging behaviour
* A passion for the progress of SEND secondary school pupils
* An ability to work as part of a team
* An ability to deal with fast-paced situations
