The post holder will support the Ophthalmic Imaging and Outpatient Department for the provision and overall smooth running of our clinical services. This will involve data entry, eyesight testing, OCT scans, and other imaging. You will have responsibility for preparing our patients and undertaking their investigations, performing a range of basic imaging tests and procedures as well as providing the reports and baseline evaluations for review by other clinical staff.
As a key member of the team, you will be required to attend both Bristol Eye Hospital and the BEH Diagnostic HUB as well as other sites if necessary to deliver clinical care. Willingness to travel is therefore required. The core hours are Monday to Friday; however, there must be some flexibility to provide service across the whole week if required.
Main duties of the job
Following appropriate training and assessment you will be performing the following clinical care duties (this list is not exhaustive and will change with the service in line with developing competency frameworks):
1. Visual Acuity Testing
2. Measuring intraocular pressure
3. Optical Coherence Tomography
4. Wide field imaging
5. Autofluorescence Imaging
6. Corneal imaging such as Topography and OCT
7. Additional imaging Techniques as appropriate to individual development/service

Qualifications and Training
* Previous experience of ophthalmic care
* At least one A level in a science subject Grade C or above
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of dealing with the public, in a customer service environment
* Understands the critical importance of confidentiality
* Experience of learning new systems
* Current working knowledge of general medical/ophthalmic conditions, equipment, and techniques.
* Working knowledge of ophthalmic conditions, procedures and techniques
* Knowledge of NHS procedures
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong customer focus
* Empathetic manner with patients
* Able to work alone and as part of a team
* Ability to deal with difficult situations.
* Good presentation skills, high level of accuracy and excellent hand-eye coordination
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent computer skills and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to travel between different working locations and weekend working
* Be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard
