Job summary University Hospitals of the North Midlands employs a dynamic team of 14 consultant haematologists to deliver haematology services to a population of over one million people in Cheshire and Staffordshire. We provide a full range of haematology services with the exception of allogeneic transplantation which is performed at the Christie Hospital, Manchester or the University Hospital Birmingham. A significant amount of post-allo follow up is performed in Stoke-on-Trent. We have an active, JACIE accredited autologous stem cell transplant program. Outpatient services are provided from 3 sites: Leighton Hospital in Crewe, County Hospital Stafford and the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke, where all haematology inpatient services are centralised. Crewe and Stafford are easily reachable from Stoke by car or public transport. All consultants work across 2 sites. Main duties of the job We work closely with the West Midlands HMDS service based in Birmingham, and bone marrow aspirate and trephines are reported in Stoke. Applicants with an interest in laboratory diagnostics will have the opportunity to participate in this aspect of the service.
