Job summary
TheNHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB) is working with GPs and healthleaders across the Black Country on a programme of work to transform andimprove primary care over the next five years. Primary care includesgeneral practice, community pharmacy, dental and optometry services. Theseservices are often the first places people go to for help with their health.
Afive-year strategy has been developed, setting out the ambition for how primarycare services can be transformed. It has identified new ways of working whichwill help reduce pressures, make general practice more sustainable and improvethe experiences of patients and staff alike. It will focus on delivering betterunplanned, planned and preventive care which will lead to healthier lifestylesand improved outcomes for people across the Black Country.
Tosupport the delivery of the new five-year strategy the ICB is creating aTransformation Team, including the role of Communication and InvolvementOfficer, to work closely with GPs and health leaders across the Black Country.You will be responsible for planning and implementing communication projectsand campaigns to support delivery of the Primary Care transformation programme.This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future delivery of primarycare across the Black Country.

Main duties of the job
1. The post holder willbe responsible for planning and implementing communication projects andcampaigns to support delivery of the Primary Care transformation programme.
2. You will commission,write, edit, proof read, co-ordinate internal and external publications,briefing documents, creative content.
3. You will also respondto communication enquiries and will coordinate the production and distributionof communication resources to stakeholders.
4. Develop and implementa communications and involvement plan to support the primary caretransformation programme.
5. Develop a core brieffor the transformation programme to inform social media and media content
6. Create a rollingnarrative for the programme to support and inform MPs, stakeholders,colleagues, and the public.
7. Create compellingcontent for various channels (newsletters, website, social media, etc.).
8. Plan and executecommunications and involvement campaigns and activities.
9. Organise and manageevents related to the programme.
10. Monitor, evaluate,and analyse communication efforts.
11. Support developmentof primary care community ambassadors.

Job responsibilities
12. Lead on specificcampaigns and producing creative and innovative ideas and solutions todelivering key communication messages. This may include the formal briefing ofdesign/external communication agencies.
13. Lead on the planning,production and distribution of regular internal/external communicationsmechanisms.
14. Support the timelyand accurate production and quality distribution of key internal documents.
15. When requested, takean active part in managing communications for events and other externalcommunication activities.
16. Lead on providinginternal communications support and advice to staff within the organisation anddevelop communications materials to support this.
17. Proactively seek outopportunities and information to ensure your own knowledge is up to date andassist the communications department in making the best use of existing andemerging technology in relation to communications.
18. Assisting in writingbriefings for senior managers, Board members and wider stakeholders.
19. Working closely withother health and care organisations/agencies as required to ensure consistentand co-ordinated media handling.

24. Analyse and interpretcomplex information to inform the delivery of communication activities,deciding how to present key messages to internal or external audiences
25. Plans, organises arange of communication activities, with some requiring complex planning due tosensitive messaging. Arranges meetings, events stakeholder conferences andcoordinates communication campaigns.

27. Follow ICBcommunication policies, procedures and protocols, highlighting any necessarychanges/adaptations to ensure continuous development.
28. Support managers toorder marketing materials, source advertising and printing services workingclosely with budget holders.
29. Specialist knowledgeof Microsoft Office software to create range of communication materials, suchas press releases, publications and presentations.
30. Responsible forupdating and monitoring a range of communication applications and databases.
31. Working knowledge ofexternal web software to monitor communication delivery, including websitesoftware, social media management tools, media monitoring systems andstakeholder management databases.
32. Undertakes audits orsurveys as necessary to the role.
33. Responsible forplanning and implementing communication projects and works closely with theirline manager to follow departmental communication policies, procedures andprotocols, managing their own workload and at times working independently.

34. Educated to degree level in relevant communications subject or equivalent in work experience within communications, public relations and/or marketing.
