Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Coordinator/Estimator to join our team in the construction surveying sector. This role combines project coordination and estimating responsibilities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in estimating or quoting projects. A background in construction surveying is an asset.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for surveying projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and overhead
2. Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine accurate quantities, timelines and pricing
3. Maintain a database of costs and pricing for future reference and project comparisons
4. Assist in the planning, execution, and closing of construction surveying projects
5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field crews to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines with the intent to drive to completion
6. Monitor project progress and prepare regular status reports for stakeholders
7. Formulate contingency plans and effectively mitigate risks which may impact cost and time estimates
8. Collaborate with other teams, conduct site visits, and provide other related services as required
9. Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards
10. Support the management of project budgets and financial reporting
11. Serve as the main point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and team members throughout the project lifecycle
12. Foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction
13. Final review of invoice before sending to client
Skills & Qualifications
1. Proven experience in project coordination and estimating within the construction or surveying industry is essential
2. High numeracy and competence in estimating, budgeting, and financial analysis
3. Cost management, materials controls skills, and blueprint reading
4. Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken
5. Highly efficient organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
6. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Self-motivated
9. Ability to interpret technical drawings
10. Proficiency with Microsoft Office
11. Quantity Surveying, or Construction Estimator designation in construction estimating considered an asset
12. Strong understanding of construction processes, surveying techniques, and relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, estimating software)
