Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Ready to make a real difference while staying active and engaged? Join us as a MY CARE Champion Volunteer at the Royal Devon, where every day brings new opportunities to connect, support, and inspire!
You will be based at the main entrances of the Royal Devon's main sites; however, you may be required to go into specific departments where MY CARE is used a lot. While doing this, you'll get the chance to meet new people, have a positive impact, and be able to keep fit and active as part of a team!
You will be volunteering in an information-giving role (no 'sales' required!) where you can empower others by helping individuals navigate the MY CARE system with confidence. You will assist with things like setting up accounts, simple queries, and giving demonstrations all on an easy-to-use iPad. You will also be responsible for signposting any complicated queries to the correct team/individuals in order to help get them resolved.
Please note volunteering in some environments/departments will require you to evidence your immunisations to our Occupational Health team.
Main duties of the job
For more detail about the main duties of this role, please see the job description section below. As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients stay healthy when they need it most.
Job responsibilities
Our volunteers are amazing people, and we are very proud to have so many working alongside our various services across Devon. Volunteering is a rewarding way in which people can give something back to their community.
Each and every volunteer provides invaluable help supporting the work of the Trust. They can truly enrich the patient experience, whether with us for an outpatient visit or a longer admission, by providing non-clinical support. They bring their many and varied skills, knowledge, and experience to complement our core activities.
Volunteering is good for your health.
Volunteering provides many benefits to both mental and physical health. It can help to counteract the effects of stress, isolation, and anxiety. The social contact that comes from helping and working with others will have a positive effect on your overall psychological well-being and is extremely rewarding.
