Job Description:
Please note this is not a Bath & North East Somerset Council Vacancy.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join the Town Council’s Youth Service!
You will engage and support young people to access advice and guidance and additional support where needed with a view to improving their current and future outcomes, ensuring opportunities for inclusion, positive choices, emotional wellbeing, keeping themselves safe and reducing the risk of exploitation or harm. This role will require at least three face-to-face sessions per week. Occasional additional hours may be required to meet needs e.g., holiday activities, outings and other sessions as and when required.
In addition to a wide range of facilities managed by the Council, it is currently working to expand and improve our Youth Service provision and team.
As an Assistant Support Worker with Keynsham Town Council, you will work alongside our Youth Development Officer and Youth Support Workers to help develop the Town Council Youth Provision. You will co-produce with young people and the Youth Work Team a relevant, informal, welcoming environment for the 11-18 age group. Your role will include working with young people through a variety of methods providing personal and social education to help them gain knowledge and recognise new opportunities in the world around them. You will be expected to build effective and meaningful relationships with young people through regular contact, mutual trust, respect and understanding whilst maintaining professional boundaries, responding to the needs of individuals and groups of young people by developing appropriate strategies for action which are both educational and fun.
All of our Youth Team help to bridge the gaps in understanding between the local community and young people; and to highlight issues affecting young people acting as advocates for and with them within the wider community.
If you believe you have the skills and experience to fulfil this post and drive to move forward our exciting programme for change, we would love to hear from you.
If you have any questions about the role please contact Dawn Drury, Town Clerk on [emailprotected] 01179 868683.
