Job overview
This role gives the successful applicant the opportunity to act as one of the Leads in a dynamic mental health team and offer guidance, supervision and leadership to colleagues, including our team of care coordinators, key workers, Support Time recovery workers and Peer Support workers.
The role entails supporting our clients who are experiencing mental health difficulties towards recovery, by maintaining an empathetic and compassionate approach that is based on evidence based interventions and support.
Main duties of the job
1. Champion transformation and transition between all services, with the service user, family and network, ensuring service users and carers are fully engaged in the development and delivery of mental health services.
2. Promote Occupational therapy interventions within the mental Health & Wellness team.
3. Support the transformation of pathways to support the best pathway of care for all service users.
4. Support junior members of staff on specific areas including Social inclusion, adult social care referrals, allocation of work, health and safety etc.
5. Lead by providing a range of interventions and assessments for service users, including those with multiple pathologies and complex mental health needs, taking into consideration their physical/cognitive/perceptual skills to identify their abilities and areas of difficulty.
6. Ensure that risk assessment/management procedures are implemented.
7. Provide specialist clinical advice on the suitability of various assessments and intervention methods.
8. Supervising staff through caseload managing.
9. Be responsible for organising and prioritising own caseload in the day to day allocation of work, whilst being able to work flexibly to meet the needs of their service users, relatives, carers and the service.
10. Work alongside the service manager, clinical leads and delegate appropriately to more junior team members.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

11. NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
12. Qualification in social work, nursing or occupational therapy
Experience

13. Minimum 4 years post qualification experience within a mental health setting
14. Experience of working within community recovery or brief intervention services who treat and care for individuals in line with the Care programme approach and Care Act 2014
15. Extensive experience of undertaking complex mental state assessment, risk and needs assessment with service users with severe and enduring mental illness
16. Experience of providing managerial and clinical supervision to junior colleagues
Knowledge
Essential criteria
17. An awareness of national policies and legislation and local drivers within mental health services
18. Demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge and experience in the field of mental health and recovery
19. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983; Mental Capacity Act, Care Act 2014 and related codes of practice and guidance
20. Understanding of Personalisation agendas, recovery models and evidence based practice
