AWE is recruiting a Senior Project Manager for an international project in collaboration with France. The Teutates programme covers the technology relating to weapons renewal programmes, with a view to maintaining the two countries’ nuclear deterrent capabilities. This includes the joint construction, funding, and operation of a new hydrodynamics facility in France, at Epure, near Dijon, and a technology development centre and firing point in the UK at the AWE Aldermaston site (which has already been completed). Package: Salary from £62,440 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience) Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. However, you will be required to take frequent travel to France on a commuting contract with up to 50% of your time in France. Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. Let us introduce the role As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering assigned projects to time, cost and quality, compliant with AWE processes. This may also include the applications of skill sets within nuclear programmes and projects in supporting the delivery of the AWE mission. Project Managers will be expected to work in roles which require an awareness and compliance to the nuclear license conditions. Managing multiple projects, high value budgets and stakeholders at all levels. Your role will entail: Delivering assigned projects in accordance with requirements, operational constraints, time, cost, and quality. Leading, coaching and developing a delivery team including personal objectives, to create and delivery operational plans. Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality, and being a great team player within a diverse and exciting workforce. Who are we looking for? This role is instrumental to delivering on AWE’s core mission, your focus will be on ensuring the critical path of activity is delivered to time, cost, and quality. Your responsibilities will include: Lead the creation and delivery of project plans, capturing task allocation and resource allocation. Management of project resources (personnel, identify and maintain project budgets). Manage projects with focus on Governance (compliance, reporting and post project review). Capture and maintain critical path delivery, with focus upon dependency, risk and issue management. Manage work as defined in the scope of work and joint UK/FR requirements documentation. Lead, support and initiate change against the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB). Lead, initiate and perform risk and opportunity identification and subsequent actions. Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following: Demonstrable experience working in Front End Design Development within a similar highly regulated industry would be beneficial, ideally with an engineering/Design background. Commercial aptitude with an understanding of NEC4 contract management. A Project Management practitioner qualification/membership or equivalent experience would be beneficial. Demonstrating excellent stakeholder management skills and natural ability to build and maintain customer relationships across all levels. Experience to manage multiple and/or complex, high value, cross-functional projects. Skills to create and update all project documentation, including project management plans and supporting risks, assumptions, actions, issues & dependencies. Demonstrable application of methods to track project deliverables including implementing key performance indicators and producing project progress reports. Ability to lead and initiate risk techniques to manage complex project risks and interdependencies with efficient mitigation and contingency plans. Experience to manage projects through a lifecycle and the associated governance, including stage gate approvals.
