Job Summary:
To be responsible for implementing and maintaining site Food Safety and Quality Management Systems including HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, and GMP to ensure compliance with BRC Global Standard, relevant legislation, Halal, Red Tractor Certification and Customer requirements.
Main Duties and Key Activities:
Food Safety and Quality Management:
•Ensure site HACCP Plans for all products are implemented, maintained and verified.
•Promoting a culture of continuous improvement through organisation of the internal audit process.
•Ensuring adequate document control system in place
•Providing effective management of raw material packaging and service supplies to site.
•Ensure effective management of New Products and Process development on site from initial concept to final launch.
•Ensuring adequate and effective traceability and recall procedures are in place.
•Completion and review of product, ingredient, services and packaging specifications.
•Escalation of details of non-conformances to Senior Management.
•Investigation, risk assessments and root cause analysis of non-conformances along with implementation of corrective or preventative action as agreed.
•Ensuring effective calibration and control of critical instrumentation on site.
•Review of process control records and release of product.
•Provision of customer Certificates of Analysis / Conformity.
•Provision of documentation for export control.
•Assist in effective management and control on site of water treatment systems, borehole water, cooling towers, chilled water treatment systems, CIP and manual cleaning systems.
Quality Objectives and Key Performance Indicators:
•Ensure that site Quality Objectives and KPI’s within your control are achieved to the agreed targets.
Factory Hygiene Standards:
•Ensure adequate and effective management of site hygiene standards to promote good manufacturing practice and a culture of continuous improvement.
•Assist in staff training and ensure that food safety culture is understood by all employees.
Laboratory:
•Ensure good laboratory practice is carried out.
•Provide support to ensure laboratory staff are adequately trained and records kept for verification.
•Ensure the timely completion of required documentation and records.
Customers:
•Investigation of customer complaints.
•Completion of customer questionnaires or other documentation as requested.
•Provision of Customer Samples.
External Audits:
•Participation in all external audits e.g. Customers, Certification Bodies, Regulatory Bodies, and Suppliers e.g. BRC, Halal etc.
Health and Safety:
•Adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety policy and the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System including Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Knowledge and Experience:
•Previous technical management experience gained in food manufacturing.
•Experience of the dairy industry would be an advantage.
•Excellent understanding of UK food manufacturing technical and legislative requirements.
•Experience of a Food Safety and Quality Management System (including HACCP and GMP).
•Experience of working to BRC Global Standards.
