Job Summary:
The Systems Accountant will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's financial systems, ensuring they meet the needs of the finance department and other stakeholders. This role requires a blend of accounting expertise and technical skills to support and enhance the financial systems infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Systems Management:
1. Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of financial systems (e.g., ERP, accounting software).
2. Ensure the financial systems are configured to meet the business requirements and comply with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
3. Manage system upgrades, patches, and enhancements to maintain optimal performance and functionality.
System Integration and Optimisation:
4. Work closely with IT and other departments to integrate financial systems with other business applications.
5. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the financial systems.
6. Develop and implement best practices for system use and data management.
User Support and Training:
7. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for financial system users.
8. Conduct training sessions and create documentation for end-users to ensure effective use of the systems.
9. Act as the primary point of contact for system-related queries and issues.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
10. Design and develop financial reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
11. Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all financial reports.
12. Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Compliance and Security:
13. Ensure financial systems comply with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
14. Implement and monitor security protocols to protect financial data.
15. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary system documentation and data.
Project Management:
16. Lead or participate in financial systems projects, including new implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
17. Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
18. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
19. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
20. Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CMA) or equivalent certification is preferred.
21. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a systems accounting role.
22. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and financial software.
