We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Endoscopy. As this post is is suitable to those in later stages of speciality training or post CCT, those eligible candidates will be placed on the appropriate terms and conditions of Speciality Doctor TCS (2021).
The Endoscopy Department at Northumbria Healthcare is delivered over multiple hospital sites with the acute endoscopy workload including GI Bleed and ERCP cases carried out at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington. We are looking for an experienced endoscopist who wishes to consolidate their skills through practice as well as develop advanced therapeutic endoscopy skills through additional supervised training in ERCP.
This post will suit a Doctor in their late stages of training or in the immediate post CCT period. The candidate will already be performing diagnostic endoscopy and colonoscopy work certified as independent by JAG. They will show an interest and aptitude for training, audit and research and to join activities taking place in the Gastroenterology specialty and wider Endoscopy Service. They will be expected to support clinical work attached to the specialty, although this will primarily be endoscopy activity and some outpatient commitment – the job plan for this post will be negotiated with the successful candidate to meet both individual training and service needs.
This role aimed at candidates who are JAG accredited in upper and lower GI endoscopy and wish to develop and consolidate their skills, alongside developing their own training and experience in ERCP cases. As well as exposure to upper and lower GI luminal therapeutics there is also the opportunity to develop skills in Emergency GI Bleed and Upper GI Therapeutic Endoscopy as part of Acute Rota at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington with Consultant Gastroenterologist mentoring and support.
Outpatient clinic work is an expected part of the post, this will be assisting with the faster diagnosis cancer pathway and also developing skills in assessing patients prior to advanced endoscopy. There is job planned time for administration and CPD, alongside opportunities to participate in teaching and research based on the interests of the postholder.
There are no on-call out of hours commitments associated with this post.
