Job summary The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a 20-bedded unit which acts as the main point of referral, assessment and admission of patients to the Medical Division. It functions as the interface between primary care or the Emergency Department and acute assessment and care in the Medical Division. The AMU operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and is the receiving area for patients requiring acute N.I.V treatment. The Unit won the first Manx Care Award for demonstrating excellent care and standards and being professional ambassadors of the Manx Care values. Main duties of the job The unit is managed by a Senior Sister with support from Sisters and Charge Nurses, alongside a highly skilled team of Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants who are responsible for providing high standards of care, meeting specific patient needs and promoting safety and recovery.
