Job Description
Senior Development Manager (Onshore Renewable Energy)
Central Belt – Scotland
Salary Dependent on Candidate Experience
Piper Maddox are partnering with a hugely exciting developer of renewable energy who are moving towards an IPP model in the coming years. With significant team growth this year, they are showing no signs of slowing down towards the end of 2024 and into 2025.
Our client focuses on the development of Onshore Wind, Solar, and Battery Storage projects and has put together a strong pipeline of close to 2GW with a target of adding further capacity next year. You would have the added security of knowing that a portion of these connections are pre-approved – a key factor with the current congestion in the UK grid space.
Their current team is based in England and covers land, planning, development, project design, grid engineering, as well as an in-house legal counsel. With a hugely stable investment partner behind them, as well as the aforementioned pipeline, our client has planned for the duplication of their England team in Scotland.
One of the first hires in this division is a Senior Development Manager who will be responsible for driving forward projects through the development lifecycle. You will be responsible for progressing both existing projects as well as new opportunities.
This role would include:
* Project Origination and the sourcing of suitable development sites for renewable energy projects.
* Management of key stakeholders including landowners, external consultants, as well as liaison with the wider management team.
* Monitoring and management of the planning consent process to ensure projects move forward smoothly.
Where this role is slightly different to your usual development manager role, is that once projects are up and running, this role has the unique pathway of becoming the Country Manager for Scotland within 12 months.
When the pivot into Country Manager occurs, your role will develop into a blend of hands on project work as well as building out and leading a team in Scotland. This would be a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Development Manager who is looking to add leadership responsibilities to their ambitions and career.
Prior experience in the Scottish Renewable Energy market – particularly in Onshore Wind, is critical for this position.
