We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join us on fast moving, innovative and influential work that is underway in the Defence and Security Sector. What do we look for in a Senior Platform Engineer? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Platform Engineer. The ideal candidate will lead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes configuration, monitoring systems, repository management, automation, and other critical platform components. Collaborating closely with the Platform team, the Senior Platform Engineer will ensure seamless integration of our offerings with the development teams’ requirements. While the role may encompass a broad scope, including deployment automation and CI/CD pipeline configuration initially, it will gradually shift towards supporting the platform's maintainability, supportability, security, and scalability/performance. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and build of toolchains and workflows that enable self-service capabilities for the organisation. Leverage automation and orchestration tooling to support scalable and resilient application deployments. Champion 'golden-pathways' to deliver platform maintainability, supportability, security, and scalability/performance. Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to continually enhance platform capabilities and practices. Provide guidance and oversight to the development team on best practices for utilizing platform offerings effectively. Focus on evangelising a GitOps philosophy, using tools and products such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines to deliver secure and scalable services to our end users. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience 5 years of experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Integration, or related roles. Proficiency in Kubernetes configuration and container orchestration techniques. Strong expertise in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar. Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar for infrastructure and application monitoring. Solid understanding of version control systems, preferably Git, and repository management practices. Proven track record of driving automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reliability. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
