The Company
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Premier Woodshop. You will join our fully integrated, full-service event agency (Premier Events) and manage the Premier Woodshop, which is an integral part of it.
Established in 2009, the company has grown rapidly; we employ 44 people and have a turnover of £7.5m.
The Woodshop was launched in Jan 2024, prior to this it was typically manufacturing products for internal client events. Turnover for 2024 was £600k, but we expect this to top £1m in 2025, and we have ambitious plans for growth.
Our clients are global brands who look for us to provide them with exceptionally high-quality event scenery, display items and exhibition stands.
Working alongside our Technical Director, a team of 3x Bench Joiners and 3x Project Managers, you will be overseeing the manufacture of joinery work for multiple applications, including live events, exhibitions, retail and online sales.
The Woodshop is based at our Thurmaston head office and has just been completely refurbished to create a fantastic modern environment in which to work.
The Role
The role will consist of:
1. Supporting the project managers with quoting
2. Inspiring and motivating the team of bench joiners
3. Stock management
4. Machine management
5. Programming the CNC machine
6. Manufacturing premium joinery items
7. Logistics planning
8. Ensuring quality control of all products
9. Implementing health and safety protocols
10. Providing training and development for the team
11. Managing the woodshop budget
12. Continuously improving woodshop processes
13. Overseeing procurement and inventory of materials
14. Providing technical support for equipment and machinery
15. Overseeing all output from the Woodshop
16. Working out-of-hours during weekends and evenings as required
17. Being well-organised and able to work under pressure whilst meeting tight deadlines
The Candidate
You will have built up experience in similar roles at other companies, either as a freelancer or in a full-time capacity.
Having previous experience in the exhibition industry, both on-site and on the bench, is essential.
You must be able to work well under pressure and solve problems on the fly. We are looking for a team player with sharp attention to detail and a can-do attitude.
