As part of a groundbreaking 10-year partnership with Scottish Power, the company is establishing a new subsidiary in Glasgow to manage Overhead Line Transmission projects. We are supporting them in the search for local professionals with entrepreneurial mindsets to contribute to this exciting expansion. Currently seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Responsible to oversee and manage all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance in our overhead line construction projects. The selected candidate will be pivotal in shaping the Scottish subsidiary and contributing to a high-impact project. Mission: Work on OHL transmission projects, ensure that safety standards are met, risks are minimized, and environmental regulations are strictly adhered to; ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel and minimizing the project’s impact on the environment. Key Responsibilities: • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, emergency plans, and practices specific to overhead line construction. • Act as the primary point of contact for all HSE-related matters, both internally and with external parties, such as clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. • Conduct risk assessments for high-voltage line work, working at height, and other construction activities, ensuring that all hazards are identified and mitigated. • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including UK Health and Safety at Work Act, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM), and other industry-specific regulations. • Regularly inspect project sites, conduct safety audits, and identify any unsafe conditions, work practices, or environmental risks. • Lead and report on incident investigations, providing recommendations for corrective actions and improvements. • Provide ongoing HSE training to staff, contractors, and subcontractors on topics such as electrical safety, working at height, manual handling, and emergency response. • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, pollution prevention, and the preservation of wildlife and habitats affected by overhead line construction. • Prepare and present HSE performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics such as incident rates, compliance levels, and environmental impact. Required Qualifications & Experience: • At least 5 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in the construction or utility sector in the Scottish Market. • Previous experience in overhead line construction or a similar infrastructure project is highly desirable. • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent; IOSH membership is a plus. • Familiarity with high-voltage electrical systems, construction hazards, and environmental protection measures in line with Scottish and UK standards. • Degree in occupational HSE science, or a related field is preferred. • Travel within Scotland for site visits.
