Microbiology consultants provide regular input into ICU, HDU, NICU, and Haematology by attending regular ward rounds and supporting established MDTs. A microbiology consultant is attending a weekly Diabetic Foot MDT outpatient clinic. OPAT is provided by the Surgical Medical Acute Rehabilitation Team in collaboration with district nurses. Microbiology consultants provide continuous support throughout the week and attend weekly MDT/virtual ward rounds. Antimicrobial stewardship ward rounds are attended by the antimicrobial pharmacist with support from the antimicrobial lead or other consultants. All consultants are part of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Group. This is a replacement position to join a group of three consultant medical microbiologists who together provide a comprehensive clinical, laboratory, and infection prevention control service to the hospital.
