Job overview
We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse - Ward 7A who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
Ward 7A is our new vascular surgery hub for the region, we cover East & North Herts, West Herts and Essex. We are a 29 bedded ward, compromising of 23 inpatient beds, 6 high level care beds (HDU), and an outpatient vascular hot clinic.
You will work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team caring for patient pre- and post-surgery, rotating around our general ward as well as our 6 higher level care beds. The role requires working days/ nights/ weekdays/weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care needs of patients from admission (or before) to discharge, with the involvement of patients and their relatives/carers.
2. To ensure a high standard of nursing care is always performed and assists in the review and regular update of these standards in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct and trust policies.
3. Participate within a team of nurse and support workers in providing continuity of patient care, ensuring patients’ physical, social, and psychological needs are met.
4. Participate in internal shift rotation to provide 24-hour patient care, this involves working days, nights, and weekends.
5. Communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, nursing colleagues, the Multidisciplinary Team, and all other relevant personnel.
6. Carry out clinical procedures and treatments in line with the patient’s plan of care.

Qualifications/Training
* Registered Nurse on part 1, part 2 or part 12 of the NMC register
* Commitment to lifelong learning
* Ability to produce updated personal professional portfolio
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Evidence of Assessing and Mentorship qualification
* Evidence of appropriate Specialist Qualification
Previous Experience
* Previous experience of working in a ward/department care environment
* Currently working in an acute ward environment within the NHS
* Experience of supporting students/clinical support workers within the NHS
Skills
* Evidence of good communication skills both written and verbal
* Ability to work within a team
* Sound organisational skills
* Flexibility
Other Requirements
* Knowledge of appropriate surgical/medical conditions and their management
