About the role
A consultancy based in the East Midlands is seeking to appoint a PQS to join their team. The organisation currently comprises a team of 10 specialists in design, project management, cost management, and delivery of capital projects across the region, managing projects ranging from £200k to over £40M. Due to an increase in workload, they are looking to expand their team. The salary is £60,000 plus benefits, with a hybrid working policy where team members typically work two days per week in the office.
Your new role
1. Pre-Contract Cost Management: Prepare and manage detailed cost plans and estimates throughout the project lifecycle. Advise on procurement strategy and cost control measures. Conduct risk analysis and value management.
2. Tender/Contractual Management: Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities and schedules of works. Review and negotiate contracts and amendments with contractors and clients. Experience with standard forms of contract such as JCT and NEC is preferred.
3. Project Monitoring & Reporting: Track changes to design or construction work and provide cost management reports throughout the project. Handle interim valuations/payments and liaise with contractors and clients on payment processes. Provide timely and detailed financial reports, highlighting overspends, risks, and cash flow issues.
4. Client/Team Interaction: Work closely with clients, in-house architectural designers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Collaborate and influence stakeholders to drive cost-efficient outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
* Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Accreditation from a professional body like RICS is desirable but not essential.
* Experience: Proven experience in a senior role within a private or consultancy-based quantity surveying firm.
* Skills: Strong analytical and attention to detail skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools. Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
