Your new company I am exclusively partnered with an independent & growing distribution company in the Southwest who provides commercial and agricultural supplies throughout the region. They supply almost 100m litres worth of product out of 6 depots, run at c. £150m turnover and have developed continued relationships with customers by providing excellent service and high levels of compliance and risk management. Despite their size, they still have a tight-knit family feel to the business and welcome honesty within the business to help them continually grow.
Your new role Your new role will directly report to the Directors of the business and sit within the senior leadership team, having complete oversight of the Transport department. With two direct reports (HS Manager & Transport administrator), you'll help with the daily running of the fleet and work closely with the Directors to ensure continuous improvement across the business is driven by transport. With risk stemming from transport and compliance, this area is key to the organisation's success, so your role will be vital in delivering daily operations, compliance and transportation strategies.
Main Responsibilities:
Overseeing a fleet of 22 drivers and 26 vehicles across 6 locations. Ensuring O'Licence compliance. Maintaining high accuracy in information. Leading the team effectively. Supervising vehicle maintenance. Conducting driver training as needed. Retaining high service levels for customers. Facilitating staff and customer communication. Developing strategies to optimise efficiency and reduce cost What you'll need to succeed
Current "Certificate of Professional Competence" for the Operator's Licence. 5+ years in the transport sector, managing over 20 vehicles. Strong communication skills and teamwork across all levels Experience presenting to senior management. Dynamic, with a focus on business and personal growth. Committed to high service levels, honesty, and integrity. A general mechanical understanding of how the fleet works Cost management skills
