Are you passionate about improving health outcomes for mothers and babies? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Public Health Manager to work across Bedford, Central Beds and Luton. This key role is part of our maternity transformation programme, focusing on public health and prevention priorities across Luton and Bedfordshire. As the Public Health Manager (Maternity), you will lead strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing maternal and neonatal health, with a particular emphasis on maternal obesity, healthy pregnancy, smoking cessation, and reducing health inequalities.
About you
We are looking for a skilled public health professional with substantial experience in leading change within complex organisations. You should have experience in commissioning, programme management, and partnership working to drive improvements in maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
Experience or understanding of NHS or maternity working environments and how to communicate effectively in these settings is essential.
You should be data-savvy, capable of analysing complex information to inform strategies and plans. Knowledge of mechanisms to reduce health inequalities and promote equality in service delivery is required.
You’ll be a strong communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to influence stakeholders and inspire teams to embrace change and deliver results.
About us
Our ambitious Luton 2040 Vision – that no-one in Luton will have to live in poverty – is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that our people are remarkable, talented, committed and passionate about serving our residents.
Are you ready to realise the remarkable and help us deliver our vision?
Application Process
Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. However, failure to disclose such offences may result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
