Cygnet Healthcare is seeking to recruit a full time, experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join Kenney House in Oldham, Greater Manchester. This role will be working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Cygnet Kenney House Cygnet Kenney House is a new service for women opening in September 2024. Kenney House will comprise of a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Acute service and High Dependency Rehabilitation ward. We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Kenney House team to provide support within the PICU and acute services. Job Role The role of the Assistant Psychologist will be to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within Kenney House by assisting the Qualified Psychologists in the delivery and evaluation of effective psychological services. The post holder will help understand, prevent and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve mental health and wellbeing of clients. The role involves the administration, scoring and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation and supervised individual and group interventions. Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development, and additional training will be supported. Candidate Profile You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you’ll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology and mental health is desirable. Previous experience of working within in-patient mental health services and settings is essential. At least 6 months previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering 1:1 therapeutic work and group therapy sessions is desireable.
