Mortonhall & Charterhall Job Title: Accounts Administrator Status: Full time, permanent contract Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager Salary: £24,000-£28,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience) Benefits: Pension and 28 holidays per annum Role Mortonhall and Charterhall is a well-diversified privately-owned estate geographically spread with its principal enterprises located in Berwickshire, Edinburgh & Northumberland. This role will be primarily based out of the estate office in Berwickshire. The estate manages a range of rental propositions including residential, commercial, leisure, retail & light industrial properties as well as traditional farming & country sports activities. There is a strong existing business in operation. The role of Accounts Administrator is a varied and interesting role providing day to day support to the Finance and Administration Manager and farm partners. The Accounts Administrator is responsible for the accurate and efficient implementation of administration and finance systems and processes. Key Tasks Processing of purchase invoices, ensuring coded accurately with appropriate authorisation. Preparing and submitting customer invoices. Processing of bank receipts and payments. Bank reconciliations. Debtors & creditors control keeping relevant team members informed of outstanding sums, including weekly debtors report and maintaining good credit control on all accounts. Monthly payment run and other payments as required. Monthly journals. Preparation of monthly VAT returns including partial exemption calculations. Process and review of daily income reconciliations undertaken at employers’ holiday parks. Monthly self-catering deposit reconciliation for parks. Assisting with production of accounts and working papers. Assisting with production of cash flow forecasting and budgets. Interacting with farm consultants and farm contractors. Maintaining stock and utility records. General farm and estate administration. Filing of records and archiving. Any other duties that may reasonably be requested of you. Person Specification Excellent computer skills and the ability to pick up new software quickly. Knowledge of Farmplan or Xero accounting software may be advantageous. Articulate with strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels. Driven, proactive and motivated. Flexible “can do” attitude and an excellent team player. Self-motivated and able to use own initiative. Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
