About the Role
We are looking for an exceptionally organised and highly literate Senior Project Editor, based in the UK, with great customer service skills to join our friendly team. The right candidate will become an integral part of the editorial team and will see their own projects through from kick-off to finished book. They will also liaise with clients, writers, printers, and other suppliers daily.
Key Responsibilities
As our Senior Project Editor, you will:
* Work as a project manager in our Business PRO and Memoir PRO projects. Prioritise your tasks effectively on a daily basis, overseeing 70-80 Classic and PRO book projects consistently meeting client expectations and department SLAs.
* Coordinate the production process from introductory call, writer matching, interview oversight, book outline and sample development, draft development, and book design and printing.
* Build client and writer rapport via phone call and email, acting as the first point of contact for customer service, and proactively and efficiently resolving issues across your portfolio.
* Identify book upgrade opportunities and effectively present and sell these to clients in your portfolio (extra design elements, increased word count etc).
* Build working relationships and collaborate with a diverse list of skilled writers to deliver engaging, quality writing and beautifully crafted life stories. Hold writers accountable for our editorial standards, agreed processes and timelines.
About You
* Up to 2 years’ of project management experience managing small to midsize projects simultaneously with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
* A customer service rockstar with 1 - 2 years of experience in the field.
* Proven editorial skills and a keen passion for storytelling.
* Experience working on business and finance publications is highly advantageous.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with a talented team across your own projects and the wider operational and sales team.
* Ability to understand customer needs and identify sales opportunities for upgrades.
* Mental resilience - not all our stories are happy ones, typically 30% of our projects involve people overcoming some variety of trauma in their lives. You will need to be assertive, enthusiastic and empathetic.
* An interest in working in an entrepreneurial, fast paced environment with the ability to embrace change and produce results.
* Comfortable adapting to new technology and platforms, including the use of AI content generation.
* Interest and/or experience in book design or the self-publishing industry is a plus. Please mention it in your cover letter.

* Salary £33,000 - £36,000 depending on experience + commission/ bonus
* 25 vacation days + 8 bank holidays
