Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. We are looking for a Design Manager to lead the technical aspects of Enabling & Earthworks. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the replication process for this major infrastructure project, including the detailed design of the Sizewell C nuclear project. Your expertise will help shape the next generation of nuclear development for the UK. The Role The Design Manager will be responsible for managing scope with the Enabling & Earthworks programme which has the purpose of constructing a platform for the subsequent Main Civil Works (buildings & structures). You’ll be leading on technical design aspects and responsible for the technical aspects of the end-to-end design process in their specific scope area. The Design Manager will manage and co-ordinate the Sizewell C Client and Responsible Designer inputs and requirements, you’ll manage both the technical change control and technical assurance process to ensure delivery to quality and co-ordinate technical aspects with technical stakeholders. These include EDF Nuclear Services Engineering (was PWRT TCO), Sizewell C Design Authority, Responsible Designer and L3 Design Supply Chain. To be successful in your application for Design Manager you will need the ability to manage complex technical processes with precision. A proactive mindset, resilience and the ability to excel in a fast-moving environment will be key to your success. What You’ll Do Lead & manage technical processes in a fast-paced environment. Coordinate & integrate information transfer across stakeholders. Ensure seamless collaboration through effective stakeholder management. Drive innovation & efficiency in excavation and earthworks. Skills: To excel in this role, you’ll need a strong blend of leadership, technical expertise and adaptability in complex environments: A degree in Ground Engineering / Geotechnics, or a related field. Background in Civil or Structural Engineering. Proven experience across the concept design, detailed design, and construction stages of projects. Experience leading focused technical teams, including providing technical direction to suppliers. A collaborative mindset, with a passion for offering technical assistance and working within a technically-oriented delivery team. Strong stakeholder management experience. Desirable: Experience in the nuclear sector, particularly in the design and implementation of safety-related structures, systems, and components. Why Join Sizewell C?
