Our client Scottish Power Renewables are currently recruiting for an Offshore Environmental Advisor to join their team based in Lowestoft on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Environmental Advisor with a strong offshore background. For more information on this role see below:
Main Purpose of Job
Provide Environmental Management Services to the EA Three Project:
1. The main purpose of this role will be to act as SPR's Offshore Environmental Advisor for the EA Three offshore wind farm project providing environmental support to the project team and project environmental team.
2. The role is flexible, with tasks to be completed in the project office and offshore.
3. This role will have responsibility to assist in the development and maintenance of an effective level of environmental management for the construction phase of the EA Three offshore site.
4. A significant part of the role will be to engage directly with the suppliers and contractors who are either tendering or awarded the offshore works on environmental management.
5. Carry out checks on suppliers post contract award (including audits, inspections, review and comment on site documentation, meetings etc).
6. Develop and communicate environmental awareness training including site inductions (on and off site).
Key Tasks
1. Regular visits offshore for environmental inspections.
2. Liaison and update the project environmental team on offshore contractors, risks and documents.
3. Undertake environmental inspections of vessels working on the project.
4. Engagement with the EA Three offshore package leads to communicate environmental compliance requirements and environmental management standards.
5. Engagement with the project HS team to ensure alignment of HS-E standards and documents.
6. Review and update local offshore environmental management controls including the offshore environmental plan, and development of other specific EA Three offshore documents.
7. Assessment of Contractors pre-qualification and tender returns in regards to environmental management issues for the various work packages.
8. Preparation of contract schedules and associated documentation in regards to environmental management for the various work packages.
9. Post contract award review site documentation to ensure that it meets contract requirements.
10. Receive and review contractors risk assessments / method statements, environmental plans etc and work with project management to approve submitted documents.
11. Facilitate environmental meetings with contractors, and represent environmental interests.
12. Collate environmental incidents/near miss statistics from all contractors on the project and submit report to project management team using SPR established procedures (in liaison with Health & Safety team).
13. Lead or assist with offshore environmental incident investigation as applicable.
14. Ensure that SPR and the site contractors report environmental incidents to the appropriate Authorities as applicable and as per project protocols.
15. Support the project environmental manager on requirements for project environmental reporting.
Key Criteria
1. Flexibility to travel – the candidate will be based in Lowestoft East Anglia office but will be required to visit the various site locations (both on/offshore), Glasgow Office, suppliers in Europe.
2. Candidates should have the required GWO training and will be expected to travel offshore on a regular basis to conduct site visits and inspections.
