Organisation: Restitution Impact
About Us: Restitution Impact is a small, dynamic UK-based not-for-profit whose focus is the effective recovery of assets stolen from countries primarily in the Global South. We focus on effective and efficient asset recovery and return of assets extracted as international illicit financial flows (“IFFs”). We work with governments and civil society to identify and investigate instances of illegal extraction of assets and develop and execute strategies for effective recovery and return. Our work includes investigations and development of multi-jurisdictional claims against bad actors and related capacity building and support for government partners, civil society and other key stakeholders. In addition, our approach includes working with governments and other key stakeholders on transparent and accountable return of assets through managed repatriation ("structured restitution") to support national development priorities and prevent re-corruption. This work includes technical advice on structuring development, economic and financial solutions for government partners.
Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and innovative stakeholder and sector expert on innovative structures for government partners who require support on structured restitution projects. We are looking for someone with a background in sovereign debt origination and/or restructuring, and experience in alternative credit solutions (including debt-for-nature swaps). In addition, having experience working with and attracting investment from development finance institutions (“DFIs”), blended finance and impact investor stakeholders who can anchor a project will be important. The role requires the capability to manage all stages of a project, from the design phase to post-closing, including negotiating with government partners and stakeholders. Essential qualities for this role include excellent interpersonal skills, strong teamwork, project management skills, autonomy with a high sense of organization and the ability to work in a demanding environment. This role is part-time, requiring at least one day per week (potentially more given the demands of the project), and is primarily remote, though some travel may be expected. You will play a crucial part in contributing towards the shaping and implementation of our strategy, including the development of our structured restitution project, which is aimed at creating sustainable value and transparency for our government partners while increasing DFI and alternative investor interest. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:

6. IT and AI-based solutions to facilitate the above
2. Identify, engage and execute with potential investors, banks, and other institutions, including DFIs, blended finance and impact investors.

4. Contribute to various finance-related workstreams as needed.
5. Support the development of quantum claim and recoverability analysis, including collaboration with third-party experts/consultants.
6. Assist in designing, negotiating, and structuring term sheets, expressions of interest, and other agreements relating to government and other stakeholder engagements.
7. Compile and analyse accounting, audit, and financial statements of Restitution Impact when required.
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience in alternative financial product development and structuring.
2. Strong understanding of debt, equity, derivatives, and insurance products.
3. Strong understanding of corporate finance and experience in valuation of companies/company assets for quantum claim and/or recoverability analysis.
4. Experience in cross border legal and economic situations and understanding of increased complexities that these situations present.
5. Expertise in Excel and, critically, the development of pitch books in Powerpoint.
6. Skills in building financial models.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
9. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
