An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Nurse to join the North Derbyshire Early Intervention Service, to support the team with their work with people experiencing a first episode of psychosis.
We are looking for a committed, dynamic, enthusiastic mental health practitioner to work within our friendly, supportive, multi-disciplinary and innovative team. This post is open to Registered Mental Health Nurses.
The post holder will work closely with people referred into the service and with their family members in order to promote optimism and potential around vocation and independence. We are looking for committed individuals who enjoy being part of a team and who value their therapeutic work. We all have a desire to make our Derbyshire wide Early Intervention Services the best we can.
The post holder will act as a care-coordinator for a designated number of people who are experiencing psychosis for the first time in line with the national early intervention standards.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who would like to develop their knowledge and experience within the area of first episode of psychosis and work collaboratively with service users and families, and contribute to the supportive nature of our multi-professional team.
1. This post will entail the care co-ordination for service users from the age of 14-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis and adopting the policies and philosophy of the service and sharing the team vision.
2. Be involved in the learning culture and promote social inclusion and enhancing the independence and autonomy of the service user.
3. Be responsible and accountable for your own practice and have a legal responsibility to service users, colleagues and employers.
4. Demonstrate strong leadership skills.
5. Develop knowledge of the early intervention service and take part in appropriate training for the role.
6. Take part in the yearly NCAP audit.
7. Be able to travel across a wide area in a timely and efficient way to meet the needs of the service.
8. Support with the duty function and complete initial assessments of new referrals.
9. As a lead nurse, you will have demonstrable RMN post-registration experience and be able to demonstrate post-registration study and development.
10. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and have demonstrable expertise in care planning and risk assessment.
11. Be expected to be a role model, offering mentoring and supervision to your colleagues and students.
