About the role
We’re looking for a Head of Business Development to join our sales and marketing team on a fixed term basis for twelve to fifteen months for maternity cover.

In this position you will play a key role in supporting the growth of the business both personally by sourcing new regular trading and profitable clients, as well as providing proactive support and management to our business generation and business development team.
We offer a competitive starting salary depending on experience and you will have the ability to earn uncapped commission on all accounts you bring on board.
What you’ll actually do
* New Business Acquisition: Lead the Business Generation and Business Development teams in approaching and achieving monthly sales targets in line with pre-agreed sector focused strategies. Work collaboratively with wider sales & marketing professionals within Optimised to ensure the New Business approach is as effective as possible.
* Strategic Partnerships: Development of Partnership channel to support business growth and achieve strategic objectives. Build strong relationships with strategic prospects, partnerships, and other external stakeholders.
* Pipeline Management: Take responsibility for the accuracy & size of the new business pipeline across our 3 Propositions ensuring that opportunities are supportively focused on agreed annual targets and clearly visible within Hubspot (our CRM system). Prepare accurate and timely sales reporting for management and stakeholders.
* Opportunity Targeting & Conversion: Identify and lead out/be the face of Optimised in our largest strategic client acquisitions. Manage the understanding and expectations of delivery teams & key internal stakeholders throughout the sales process, focused on delivering an exceptional Client experience. Work collaboratively with Client Services (Account Management) team to ensure smooth handover of new clients.
* Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of new business professionals, providing guidance and mentorship. Recruit, train, and develop talent within the business development department.
* Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as OBU Heads (Delivery Managers), Sales Operations, and Marketing, on product development and promotion of services.
* Company: Convey passion and belief in the business and support the drive to a net zero world. Provide a contribution to continuous collaboration and innovation. Support managers in the provision of Health, Safety and Wellbeing in the workplace.
What you’ll need
* A demonstrable and successful 5+ years in Corporate B2B sales specific to UK utility management, energy, and supplier management.
* Strong commercial and negotiation skills, experienced at dealing with C-suite stakeholders.
* Demonstrable track record in prospecting and closing strategic new business sales.
* Ability to travel across the UK to prospects and networking events.
* A willingness in writing presentations and presenting to external stakeholders.
* Ability to present at external networking events to promote the company and its vision.
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with a consultative and solution-focused mindset.
* A proactive and results-oriented approach to work that brings drive, energy, and passion to the role.
* An open and approachable manner, backed up by high moral and ethical standards.
* Passion for social or environmental issues.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships both digitally and in person.
* Strong resilience and positivity particularly in challenging situations.
* Accountability to yourself and others.
* High IT literacy skills.
* High attention to detail.
