Antenatal Clinic Midwifery Practice Leader

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead the Antenatal clinic team. The purpose of this role is to lead, support and coordinate the day to day running of the service, and to play a key role in the development of these services.
As a Midwifery Practice Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality, woman centred care in midwifery services, through the provision of clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership.
The post holder will ensure that the care provided by the River team and the wider antenatal clinic team is in keeping with the Philosophy of Care advocated within the Women's Health Directorate of Guy's and St Thomas' Trust.

Main duties of the job
1. To work in accordance with the NMC Rules and Code for nurses and midwives
2. To be responsible for the provision of a high quality, woman centred midwifery service for the Trust, in line with the national and Trust standards
3. To lead on the management of the day to day running of the assigned clinical area, ensuring that women and families receive care in a timely manner
4. To work with the multidisciplinary team to continually monitor the maternity care pathways
5. To identify areas for improvement and to take a lead role in designing, implementing and supporting new and existing quality improvement initiatives.
6. To deputise for the midwifery matron
7. To be a role model in the provision of midwifery care and to undertake clinical care as required.
8. You will ensure all staff are aware and implementing the evidence-based protocols agreed for the Women's directorate
9. You will support your team members to develop their skills and carryout annual appraisals.
10. You will investigate complaints in your area and feedback to the Matron and wider team

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Thorough understanding of midwifery pathways
* Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands
* Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
* Experience of managing conflict and difficult situations and knowledge of a wide range of problem solving techniques.
* Confident in the use of digital technology
Skills
* Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with good listening skills and an ability to work with a wide range of professions.
* Well developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, and have them understand the Trust's and your performance expectations.
Experience
* Experience in all areas of midwifery
* A proven track record of successfully implementing change
* Experience at Band 7 or above
