The role
Essex County Council's Wellbeing, Public Health and Communities (WPHC) team are looking to improve and enhance the work we do with the NHS and other key partners in the five Health and Wellbeing Partnerships across the County: NEE, Mid, West, B&B and South-East.
The WPHC Business Plan identifies six key health risk factors (Smoking, High Blood Pressure, High Blood Glucose, High BMI, High Cholesterol, and Alcohol Use) that impact significantly on healthy life expectancy.
This role will be tasked to work with the relevant Alliance and associated partners, ensuring that within primary care and other delivery settings, there is a focus on these risk factors. The main function of the role will be to co-ordinate and drive work across the Alliance area addressing these six risk factors, increasing uptake of smoking cessation services, reduced smoking rates, increased levels of physical activity, improved diet, reduced alcohol consumption and reduced levels of high cholesterol, with the view that this activity will support a longer term and sustainable increase in disability free life expectancy and reduced premature mortality from preventable causes.
You will bring…
· Educated to degree level and/or appropriate professional qualification relevant to the field or equivalent by experience, with subject matter expertise in a public health or related service.
· Demonstrable evidence of building strong networks within a political environment, working effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, influencing partners, and managing change within a multi-stakeholder environment.
· Proven track record of managing and delivering projects successfully whilst demonstrating breadth of thinking.
