Band 7/8a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Liver Immunosuppression

We are seeking an enthusiastic pharmacist to join our team in a band 8a, or 7 to 8a progression role, depending on experience. The focus of the first year of the post is to carry out brand switching of tacrolimus in liver transplant recipients.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham has a large tertiary liver unit, delivering a wide range of highly specialised treatment, including transplantation. Previous experience in liver is not essential.
Main duties of the job
1. Proactively carry out brand switching of tacrolimus in liver transplant recipients
2. Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge in responding to complex queries
3. Work collaboratively as part of a wider team, and also independently
4. Support with guidelines/treatment protocol development, including shared care
5. Actively participate in audit
6. Support and contribute to the development of the service
Training and support will be given to develop into the specialist role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MPharm degree or equivalent
* Clinical diploma (or equivalent) or higher Pharmacy degree
* Qualified as an independent non-medical prescribed or a willingness to undertake the programme
* GPhC registration
Experience
* Substantial experience as a band 7 pharmacist (or above) within hospital pharmacy.
* Experience in a range of clinical specialties.
* Previous participation in multi-disciplinary team
* Experience in supervising and managing pharmacists & pharmacy technicians and performing appraisals.
* Experience of audit work
* Excellent knowledge of general clinical pharmacy and drug use
* Networking: being able to work within and without the Trust with credibility
* Knowledge of current national standards, guidelines and service delivery issues relevant to education & training
* In-depth knowledge of Continuing Professional Development process and of Plan & Record system
* Experience of supervision, developing and appraising staff as well as giving feedback
