We are currently accepting applications for a Full Time Pensions Associate to join our Team!
Responsible to the Manager, Payroll & Pension, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Responsibilities:
1. Administration of two pension plans (NSHEPP & CWIPP)
2. Providing communication and support for retirements, terminations, past service purchases, and mandatory enrolment, including all year-end reporting to NSHEPP & CWIPP
3. Working closely with pension plan carriers to deliver accurate information during the year and at year-end to ensure accurate pension statements and funding
4. First point of contact for employees with pension inquiries
5. Coordinating and processing day-to-day administration of the pension plan from receiving and validating plan enrolment, leave of absences, and terminations to distributing retirement notifications to employees
6. Maintaining pension plan records and documents and ensuring compliance with regulations
7. Administering pension year-end duties resulting in the preparation of annual pension statements by NSHEPP
8. Communicating with NSHEPP and CWIPP for interpretation of the pension plan text and relevant legislation to ensure obligations are met
9. Conducting bi-weekly checks to ensure all qualified staff are enrolled in the pension in a timely manner, along with monthly reporting and remittances to pension carriers
10. Ensuring the integrity of the database and information by performing regular data audits for compliance with regulatory requirements
11. Acting as a resource for staff, co-workers, and management
12. Providing information and documentation to external auditors
13. Providing customer service for all retirees from the NSHEPP pension plan and determining the Retirement Allowance provisions
14. Administration of benefit plan deductions and creating remittances for health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance plans and RRSPs; implementing rate adjustments regularly and maintaining the Benefit Rate Table for distribution to appropriate staff
15. Processing monthly benefit bills
16. Performing other duties as required
Qualifications:
1. Three years of experience in a Pension or Payroll position
2. Experience with Payroll software such as Avanti
3. Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, or a related field
4. Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association - Certified Payroll Manager designation required
5. Ability to work additional hours and on statutory holidays as required
6. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
7. Ability to work well under pressure
Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly (8-hour shifts)
