Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist Location: Dawn House School, Rainworth, Nottinghamshire Salary: £36,731 - £40,385, dependent on experience Working pattern: Permanent contract, full-time position (35 hours/week) with part-time hours considered, Monday – Friday; 39 weeks per year, plus an additional 3 weeks during the school closure periods. Generous leave of 10 weeks during the school closure period. Start Date: February 2025 Role Overview As a Speech and Language Therapist at Dawn House School you will play a pivotal role in supporting children and young people with complex speech, language, and communication needs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure young people can access education, develop their communication skills, and achieve their full potential. By taking on this role, you'll not only provide life-changing support but also play a key part in the ongoing development of innovative therapy practices within our educational setting. Key Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of pupils with diverse communication difficulties within a school setting. Conduct assessments, provide differential diagnoses, and design effective therapy programs. Design, implement, and evaluate bespoke therapy programs tailored to the needs of each child, including group and one-on-one sessions. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate therapy interventions. Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, residential staff, and other therapists to create a supportive learning and communication environment. Develop specialist knowledge in areas like AAC, mental health, or selective mutism. Provide guidance to colleagues, parents, and external professionals through training and advice. What we are looking for: Qualifications: Recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree and registration with RCSLT and HCPC. Experience: At least two years’ experience working with pediatric caseloads, preferably with complex needs. Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work flexibly and independently. Specialist Knowledge: Familiarity with Makaton signing, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and current educational practices is desirable.
