Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Team, within HMP Berwyn for a Co-occurring assistant practitioner. The successful candidate will be joining at a time where services are under review and development, in order to meet the changing needs of service users whilst gaining experience in offender health. The role will contribute to the overall support that is provided by the team, providing therapeutic interventions for individuals on both a group and one to one basis, contribute to assessment and monitor the efficacy of interventions adopting an outcome focussed approach. The role will be required to work alongside registrants within the team, to ensure that individuals are supported in achieving their full potential. Main duties of the job You will be required to work closely with a range of stakeholders within the establishment to increase wider understanding of Co-occurring needs using a holistic approach within the forensic environment and how to improve outcomes for those with a serious mental illness and that are using illicit substances. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest and skills in both mental health and substance misuse. Whilst experience in a forensic setting is desirable, it is not essential. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills within offender health and work closely within a multi-agency team to improve practice and overall experience for the service users. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
