Job summary
The post holder will work within a Trust wide Chaplaincy Service and take responsibility for the delivery and provision of highly skilled, compassionate pastoral, spiritual or religious support for patients, carers and staff across the organisation, particularly for those identifying with Muslim faith traditions.
The post holder will be authorised and accredited to practice as a world religion or belief leader and provide effective chaplaincy which demonstrates the values and behaviours identified within the Trusts framework and act as a role model for all staff within the managed Hospital sites.
The post holder will support the Group Chaplaincy Manager to provide an efficient and effective spiritual care service across the Trust, enhancing the experience of both patients and staff in the delivery of spiritual and religious care.
The post holder will work autonomously within their own religion/faith group within the Chaplaincy role and have freedom to act and decide when it is necessary to refer to the Chaplaincy Manager.
Main duties of the job
Professional dutiesThe post holder will:o Provide pastoral, religious and spiritual support to distressed patients, clients, carers, families,and the bereavedo Plan and support religious services to meet pastoral needso Lead appropriate acts of worship within the Trust and work with volunteers to take religious ritesto patients on the wards; for example holy communion, sacraments to the Conduct foetal baby and adult funerals as required - liaising with the Trust's BereavementServiceo Conduct religious rites of passage as requiredo Support the Chaplaincy Manager deliver pastoral care across the organization and within theirown area of responsibilityo Work respectfully and sensitively alongside other healthcare professionalso Be an active team member of the Trust Corporate Patient Services Department and comment onpolicies that are being developed for the departmento Develop links with Trust ward staff and managerso Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information, for example, being aware ofreligious affiliations; supporting patients in distressing situations; dealing with family Abide by the UKBHC code of conduct and act in accordance with Trust policies, procedures andvalueso With supervision by more senior on-call staff provide faith specific on-call

Ensure good communication with all team members Provide advocacy for patients, relatives and staff Implement policies and procedures for their own work area Attend relevant MFT meetings and represent Chaplaincy services within the Trust as directed Attend as appropriate denominational/faith group meetings in the wider community Establish and maintain links with different faith group community priests and ministers Promote and model good working relationships with staff Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to effectively interpret andminister to people in some of the most painful and challenging situations Negotiate in-house and community based referrals appropriately Ensure people are treated with compassion, dignity and respect maintaining confidentiality at alltimes Ensure accurate records are kept of all patient and staff contacts Have regular 1-1 meetings with the Group Chaplaincy Manager or his/her Deputy Work closely with Trust wide Staff Support Services

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
1. Ordained or relevant Leader in good standing with own faith/non-faith community
2. Undergraduate degree level in theology, pastoral care or other relevant discipline - or working towards or equivalent experience
3. Accreditation/licensing with appropriate authority to practice as religion/belief/non-faith leader/representative and/or pastoral worker
4. Excellent spoken and written communication, pastoral and interpersonal skills
5. Broad knowledge of NHS Chaplaincy
6. Experience in health care chaplaincy
7. Evidence of team working
8. Demonstrable pastoral, spiritual and religious care experience within and beyond the person's faith and belief group
9. Ability to work effectively with others
10. IT competency in MS office, and ability to learn new IT systems rapidly
11. Valid driving license
12. Able to work on all wards: COVID positive, asymptomatic and negativ
13. To participate in on-call rota
14. To be able to work in any Trust hospital as required
Desirable
15. Post graduate training in Chaplaincy or equivalent
16. A certificate in counselling or other relevant specialist training
17. Ability in consultation with line Manager to assess and prioritize own work
18. Evidence of advanced IT skills
19. Experience in health care chaplaincy
