Field Installer (068jc) – Midlands/Remote – £35k Benefits (OTE £45-50k) My client who are a UK leader in the Pneumatic Tube System (PTS) are now seeking to recruit an additional Installer to join their established and growing team. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY. You will be reporting to the Installations Manager and be part of a small team of installers who instal this equipment mainly into NHS clients or similar across the UK and Northern Ireland. They are seeking a skilled individual to complete the installation of their systems and equipment. You will work closely with the designated Contract Manager performing the scheduled installation of systems in a safe manner to bring the projects to completion within financial targets and on time. Liaise with main contractors and other representatives who interact with the site activities. In this role you will take daily responsibility in a customer facing role by working at their customer premises or sites, from the start of a contract until completion and assist where necessary with commissioning of equipment/systems. Therefore, your role will consist of: Responsible for the mechanical installation and associated control ensuring customer satisfaction Ensure that all equipment and machinery is installed properly in the locations as specified or agreed and any variation or defect reported immediately Ensure any other operative / staff have a firm, clear understanding of their tasks Receive installation materials and keep all company property in a safe condition Stock shortages or discrepancies duly recorded, ordered and documented Ensure deadlines are known and complied with Keep good communication and liaise with the Operations Department You may participate in site surveys and or meetings Ensures that tools and access equipment are properly maintained and used safely Follow the project and the Company safety plans to ensure compliance with CDM and statutory rules Comply with customer Health & Safety and specific site rules Ensure all signing in procedures are followed Maintain all site and equipment records Promptly respond to all training and certification needs For this role you will need to be: A competent person who can demonstrate skills in mechanical installations with associated electrical controls and interface Minimum of 2 year’s previous experience in installation with a recognised specialist trade background and completed training A current CSCS trade card would be highly advantageous Self-motivated to work on their own with multi-tasking skills Have strong customer facing skills and interpersonal aptitudes to work with or assist other managers and staff Be aware and decisive You will have to be able to hold enhanced DBS checks as you will be working near vulnerable individuals on occasion Fully conversant with construction drawings and schematics Be aware of Health & Safety requirements and safe working methods Be prepared for travel and working away from home – overtime is expected as well as holding a full current driving licence. A good record-keeper The ideal candidate would be someone who has already gained some commercial experience and has a strong installation background in something akin like ducting or similar, as the system is made up of plastic tubing as the items are either clamped or glued together, with pneumatic systems forcing the air around the circuit as they typically move objects of up to 5kg in weight. On some systems, you can be responsible for the installation of up to miles of tubing and a couple of hundred stations which can be found in the largest of the hospitals. Initially you will be paired up with an experienced installer until you have gained sufficient experience to work on your own, and with some of the larger installations you are looking at 2 – 3 man teams anyway. In this role you will be expected to be away from home Mon – Fri every week as the work can range from the South West all the way to Northen Scotland and Northern Ireland. Your standard working week will be based around 39h week, Mon – Fri, however your clock will start as soon as you get into your vehicle on Monday morning and finish when you arrive home on Friday, and as such they have already pencilled in about 1 ½ hrs overtime per day, which is paid at a time and a third, hence the OTE payment. Also, all accommodation will be booked and paid for in advance by the client and they will also pay an extra £25 per day subsistence allowance. There is some overtime on top of the already factored in which paid at time and a half or double time depending on when it is being carried out. On top of these other benefits include, 25 days Bank Holidays, Pension which is matched up to 6%, and sick pay of up to 20 days per year after a years’ service. They also provide a company van, that you can also use for personal use, but you will have to pay the personal tax implication as well as company uniform and full PPE.
