We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Practitioner to join the new Urgent and Crisis service that was recently launched in April 2024, to work predominantly Out of Hours covering evenings weekend and Bank Holidays.
Sheffield Urgent and Crisis Service have recently undergone an exciting transformation. The new post holder will play an important & integral role in operationalizing the new model of service.
Shift Patterns will be spread across 4 working days, working Twilight shifts, and weekend and Bank Holiday Day shifts, although some flexibility will be expected when required to attended Leadership meetings and training etc.
The urgent and crisis service supports people who are experiencing a crisis with their mental health and / or need urgent help.
The Urgent and Crisis service provide Crisis intervention to service users in Sheffield, primarily supporting people aged 18 and over
The MDT comprises of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Support Time Recovery Workers and other professionals.
The Post holder will Provide a clinical/practice overview and input into the team. The post holder will provide a senior clinical and day to day managerial leadership role within the service. The post holder will be an integral part of the leadership/ management structure, developing practice, practitioners & team functioning.
Main duties of the job
1. To support the team to triage urgent/crisis mental health referrals from a variety of sources and to establish an appropriate response.
o To support the team and offer clinical oversight of mental health assessments, formulation and time limited treatment planning for individuals needing an urgent/crisis response
o To support the team to provide a resource of highly specialised, time limited interventions to individuals for up to 72 hours following assessment.
o To work with other disciplines and teams within Sheffield Health and Social Care (SHSC) to ensure service users benefit from a multi-disciplinary approach that best matches clinical need.

Principal Duties
2. Responsible with the Service Manager and other members of the Leadership for managing and developing staff from a range of professions by providing regular work supervision and appraisals.
