To work under the direction of the Clinical Directors to coordinate and deliver the strategic and operational aspects of the Anaesthesia and Critical Care services across the region. These will reflect National and Local priorities including the strategic direction of South Tyneside and Sunderland Hospitals Trust and the Division of Perioperative and Critical Care. The post holder is expected to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST in Anaesthesia at the time of accepting the post. Consultant performance is monitored within the Directorate and strong emphasis is given to personal career development, in line with clinical governance. All consultants must comply with Trust policy for revalidation and job planning. The post holder is expected to attend the monthly audit half day meeting. It should be noted that in line with Paragraph 5.1.7 of the attached Terms and Conditions of service, a Hospital Consultant has continuous responsibility for any patient under his or her care.
