Position: Lead Consultant - Planner
Location: Manchester Office 3 days / Hybrid 2 days
Type: Full-time
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: £75k - £85k
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Lead Consultant Planner to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will lead and manage the project planning service for a programme of works, ensuring quality schedules meet established standards. Address quality shortfalls through training, and act as the main contact for the Programme Manager. Develop schedules to identify interdependencies and resource needs, support procurement activities, and liaise with external funders. Collaborate with the team to improve processes and monitor supply chain performance.

You will:
• Ensure project schedules are robust and align with established processes and procedures, considering the project’s Level of Control (LoC) and Project Complexity Assessment (PCA) level.
• Verify cost loading and ensure alignment with commercial processes.
• Analyse and assure Earned Value Management (EVM) data, including data manipulation and presentation for stakeholders.
• Prepare programmes for Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) before handing over to the Risk & Value (R&V) team.
• Maintain baseline integrity for the portfolio and analyse it for efficiencies in time, cost savings, and process improvements.
Requirements:
• Full right to work in the UK
• Manchester 3 days / Hybrid 2 days
Essential
• 8+ years planning experience working on a variety of construction and infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in Primavera P6
• Knowledge and experience in elements of construction with Civils being preferred (e.g. Civils, M&E, etc).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Power Bi).
• Experience working on major construction and infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication skills, including English language and visual presentations (e.g. PowerPoint), with the ability to analyse and present information clearly and persuasively.
Desirable
• Knowledge and experience working with BIM, parametric estimating and 4D planning
• Qualified to degree level, would be advantageous as would having formal project management qualifications such as APM or PRINCE2
• Knowledge of procurement processes and forms of contracts (Alliances, NEC, JCT, FIDIC)
• Membership of a professional body, APM, ICE, CIOB
