Job overview
An exciting opportunity is available to work in the community services within the Pennine network. We are recruiting an experienced clinical pharmacist, with a specialist interest in mental health, to work closely with the Home Treatment Team. The Pennine network covers a large geographical area within East Lancashire. In conjunction with the Initial Response Service (IRS), the successful candidate will also provide clinical pharmacy support across the urgent care pathway in the network.
You will work closely with clinical teams as part of a multi-disciplinary approach addressing the care needs of patients and service users. You will ensure safe and effective medicines management processes within the service, including compliance with regulatory medicines management standards and implementation of medicines safety alerts. As a senior member of the pharmacy team, you will contribute to broader Trust initiatives and priorities.

The role demands an organised, flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work on their own initiative.
There is some flexibility around the commitment of the number of hours; therefore, we welcome flexible working applications and job shares.
You will have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience, and previous experience in mental health. A qualification as a non-medical prescriber or postgraduate qualifications in Psychiatry would be desirable, but applicants with a willingness to work towards these qualifications will be considered.
There is no current requirement to work on-call, Bank Holidays, or weekends. Due to the location of various units, an ability and willingness to travel around Trust locations is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Development of a non-medical prescribing role.
2. Pharmaceutical care planning and clinical review of prescriptions.
3. Involvement of service users in decisions about their medicines to optimise treatment, support adherence, and improve outcomes.
4. Provision of specialist pharmaceutical advice to the multi-disciplinary team.
5. Provision of clinical supervision and professional leadership to other members of the team.
6. Involvement in service redesign and development to ensure effective medicines management support and strategies.
7. Provide expert medicines management advice and support and ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place for the management of medicines, including the monitoring of prescribing and medicines use.
8. Attendance at strategic network meetings e.g. network/locality governance meetings.
9. Actively working to contribute to and deliver the Trust medicines optimisation strategy.
