Applications are open for an Upper GI Senior Clinical Fellow who wishes to gain experience in Upper GI and General surgery. The role would be suitable for a senior trainee and is for an initial
period six months (post may be extended at discretion of Clinical Lead after review of progress).
The Senior Clinical Fellow is expected to have worked in clinical posts for general surgery or related sub-specialities within the UK before applying for this post. This post is in a tertiary centre and major trauma centre - significant prior experience is required.
The Senior Clinical Fellow will be expected to be able to work at the level of a Specialty trainee year 3 and be competent to participate in the general surgery registrar on-call rota (1:18).
The Senior Clinical Fellow will be encouraged to publish and present at local and international meetings in topics related to Upper GI surgery.
The Senior Clinical Fellow with agree to participate in cross-site working with our sister unit at St Cross Hospital, Rugby.
The duties of the post include working as part of the Upper GI team to provide daily middle-grade cover for Upper GI patients, attending theatre/outpatient sessions as appropriate and supporting consultants in their duties. There is a commitment to the acute general surgical rota (commensurate with experience). The successful applicant will be expected to carry out a degree of clinical work (e.g. clinics) with indirect consultant supervision. There is access to modern imaging (CT/MRI/PET),
Endoscopy (ERCP and EUS) and robotics on single site.
