Position
Our client is seeking to hire a payroll manager in a newly created post which will report into the senior leader within the department. The role will be based in the Glasgow office on a hybrid basis and will have a number of payroll staff reporting into them.
Cross Departmental Interaction
The Glasgow function is a cross-disciplined office and there will be a high degree of cross departmental interaction within your day to day activities. This is a management post, but we are also looking for an individual who is actively hands-on/on the tools still.
The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to manage a team of payroll processors who manage a number of portfolio payrolls. The role will manage approximately 9 people and will be on hand to offer operational support to the team. The role holder will manage relationships with clients and will be responsible for the delivery and improvement of services to the end customer.
On a day-to-day basis, you can expect to be responsible for the following:
1. Conducting 1-2-1 appraisals with the payroll operations members.
2. Managing the day-to-day payroll function for our client ensuring that staff coverage is adequate for required tasks.
3. Reviewing and critically analyzing payroll processes with a view to making improvements where possible.
4. Assisting with day-to-day query resolution for clients and being the key support for the team.
5. Mentoring, training, and assisting with the day-to-day delivery of the monthly payroll for a portfolio of clients.
6. Working closely with senior leaders to understand bottlenecks and problem areas and designing solutions to these scenarios.
