Your role and responsibilities
* Support Independence: Manage a case load to help Suffolk residents stay independent, conduct home visits, and provide detailed advice for safety and independence.
* Team Collaboration: Participate in team development and liaise with other professionals as needed.
* Financial and Research Tasks: Conduct background research on referrals, work within budget limits, and provide financial and benefit advice.
* Skill Development and Assessment: Develop skills under Occupational Therapists' guidance to assess functional ability and advise on maximising independence using various tools and technologies.
* Plan Implementation and Advice: Implement and review Short Term Enablement Plans and Support Plans, identify eligibility, and advise customers and carers on their rights and available options.

* Good literacy and numeracy, basic IT skills, effective communication, and good listening skills.
* A passion for helping people, delivering quality services, and a commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage competing needs, and work with professionals with different views.
* A willingness to learn, develop, and use your initiative.
* The ability to understand and respond to people's emotions and reactions, and explain things clearly.

The team
The Independence and Well-being Service (IWS) is the front door Social Work team, working alongside Customer First to offer robust advice, information, equipment and digital care aids at the earliest point of an individual's journey into Adult Social Care. There are three IWS teams in Adult Social Care, located in Waveney, West Suffolk and Ipswich.
IWS work involves, but is not limited to:
* Arranging reablement services.
* Undertaking short term assessments.
* Mental capacity assessments.
* Home visits where appropriate.
* Commissioning services.
* Reviewing support.
