Chemist - Industrial Fluid Analysis
Location: Chester
Contract: Temporary (with potential to become permanent)
Salary: c£24,000 (37 hour week)
We are hiring for an analytical team using techniques like HPLC, GC, and Karl Fischer for moisture content analysis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their career who is ready to dive into a fast-paced analytical environment, and no experience is necessary.
You'll be responsible for processing critical samples and ensuring accurate, high-quality results in a methodical and organised manner. While this is a temporary role initially, there's potential for the position to become permanent based on business needs and performance.
What You'll Do
* Sample Analysis: Use advanced analytical techniques including HPLC, GC, and Karl Fischer to perform tests on critical industrial fluids.
* Active role: Efficiently process and analyse a large volume of samples while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
* Data Management: Document results clearly and accurately, ensuring all analysis is recorded according to company protocols and regulatory standards.
* Problem Solving: Interpret test results, identify trends, and flag any anomalies or issues that may require further investigation.
* Tidy and Methodical Approach: Maintain an organised, systematic approach to sample analysis and reporting, ensuring deadlines are met and results are delivered efficiently.
* Collaborative Work: Work closely with senior chemists and other team members to ensure all analyses meet quality and safety standards.
Your Background
* A degree in Chemistry (or equivalent level / closely related qualification for example BTEC, A-levels coupled with understanding of analytical chemistry).
* Hands-on knowledge of HPLC, GC, and Karl Fischer methods.
* Strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage high sample volumes in an efficient and structured way.
* A proactive attitude, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
This is an entry-level role calling for an immediate start, so we are seeking someone who is currently based in or around the Chester area. Ideally, you will have recently graduated with a chemistry degree and are ready to put your theoretical knowledge into practice. It will be helpful if you can drive due to client location; however, they have provision for cycle to work and public transport links.
On this occasion, LiCa Scientific is acting as an employment business.
