Social Worker for Children in Care - Durham County Council
Durham County Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join their Children's Looked After Team, providing high-quality, person-centered support to children in care and their families.
About the Role
* Work directly with children and young people in care, building strong relationships and providing guidance, support, and advocacy.
* Conduct thorough assessments of their needs, including their emotional, educational, and physical well-being.
* Develop and implement individualised care plans, ensuring tailored support is provided based on the child's individual circumstances and aspirations.
* Collaborate with foster carers, adoptive families, schools, health professionals, and other agencies to create a cohesive support network.
* Ensure the child's voice is heard and their views are considered in decision-making, advocating for their needs and promoting their best interests.
* Maintain accurate records, adhering to relevant legislation and policies.
Requirements
* Recognised social work qualification (e.g. DipSW, CQSW, BSC Social Work)
* Valid Social Work England registration
* Significant experience working with children in care, including care planning and reviews
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Deep understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's well-being
